China Magnesia Supply faces winter closures

November 10,2017      views

First, you should know that magnesia (especially FM) price rises with months’ Dashiqiao and Haicheng plants shutdown in anti-pollution measure.

Just when you wondered if things could get any worse. Further to our earlier report on the impact of environmental legislation on China minerals industry, it now seems that magnesia producers in Liaoning province are to endure the same anti-pollution measures implemented for the oncoming winter season.

The local government of Dashiqiao City, Liaoning province will set a “seasonal closures” on mining for the period of this winter .

Located in Liaoning province, the prefecture of Dashiqiao is a major magnesia producing district, incorporating the important refractory producing centre with one of the most important magnesite producing city-- Haicheng.

According to usual regulations, during seasonal closures, industrial production (including raw materials mining) is to be reduced, or stopped entirely , and can also be“urgently suspended when necessary”.

Magnesia price started to be in a falling trend from last month ( see my last article” China's magnesia price shows a falling trend ), However, the “winter closure” will have a serious impact on magnesite and magnesia supply, the price, I have to say, will change again.
